Carlisle, PA – July 1, 2020:  Domestic Violence Services of Cumberland & Perry Counties (DVSCP) is pleased to announce it received a $13,000 grant from the Alexander Stewart, M.D. Foundation. The grant was awarded to support DVSCP’s Emergency Shelter and associated services.

Last year, DVSCP provided shelter to 72 adults and 64 children, totaling 4,299 shelter nights.  Since March of this year, the agency has been following the Center for Disease Control guidelines about social distancing and placing clients in a local hotel rather than bringing them into the communal living space of the Emergency Shelter.  ‘Hoteling’ will continue for the foreseeable future. While the agency feels this is a necessary step to protect survivors and their children, it has resulted in additional, unbudgeted costs.  The agency is very grateful for the additional funding from the Alexander Stewart Foundation.

Founded in 1981 by Alexander Stewart, the Foundation provides financial support to empower select nonprofit organizations that provide significant benefit to their communities.
