Carlisle, PA – March 16, 2020:  In an effort to preserve the health and safety of its guests, staff, and volunteers, Domestic Violence Services of Cumberland & Perry Counties (DVSCP) has made the difficult decision to cancel its upcoming Sunflower Gala scheduled for Saturday, April 4. DVSCP closely monitored the PA Department of Health and Center for Disease Control (CDC) updates and guidelines and feels this is a necessary step to help control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, Governor Wolf has requested that all events with more than 250 people be canceled.

The agency is still planning to hold the silent auction which was to take place at the Gala since it can be run entirely online. Details for the auction are being worked out and further information will be coming soon.  Please follow the agency’s Facebook page or website for updates on the auction.

“The Gala is our largest annual fundraiser; this was a difficult decision and one we did not take lightly,” commented Barbara Kohutiak DVSCP Executive Director. “We sincerely apologize to our program partners and guests for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

Anyone who would like a refund is asked to contact Tasha Frey at 717-258-4806 or by email at tfrey@dvscp.org.
