Carlisle, PA – June 21, 2018:  Domestic Violence Services of Cumberland & Perry Counties (DVSCP) is pleased to announce it received a $3,500 grant from The Kids Trust. The grant was awarded to support DVSCP’s children and youth programs and advocacy services.

The Kids Trust was created by, and in memory of, Gary L Houck, Jr., to help kids of abuse. It gives out money annually to like-minded organizations.  “The mission of The Kids Trust Fund is to serve abused children and help them grow up in a safe, happy and exciting environment,” stated Janice Black, President/CEO of The Kids Trust.  “The grantmaking committee was pleased to note DVSCP’s application presented a direct connection to this mission.”

Last year, DVSCP housed 160 children in the emergency shelter and provided nearly 390 hours of counseling and advocacy.  Through 120 prevention presentations in local schools, the agency was able to reach an additional 2,203 kids.  Part of the goal for the school programs is to identify victims who may not be receiving the support services available to them.  DVSCP is looking to increase these efforts in 2018 and this grant from The Kids Trust is vital in the achievement of that goal.
